The Petite Sirah at Rodney’s Vineyard is planted at a 900-foot elevation on a natural mesa. This means the grapes have to work harder to get their water and nutrients, creating grapes with a rich concentration. The clones of these grapes originated from the 100+ year-old Palisade vines that Eli Parker acquired from Rosenblum back in 1996. These two facts alone make the potential for a premium Petite Sirah astronomically greater. Add the skills of our great winemaking team and we are sure to have a showstopper on our hands!

"Exhibits a lighter medium ruby color as well as lots of strawberry, cherry, pepper, and sandy, loamy soil notes. A California version of a French Cotes du Rhone, it is a charming, endearing red with a heady finish, and no hard edges. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years." ~ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Loaded with smoky black fruits, pepper, violets, mint, leafy herbs, and hints of raw meat, the 2008 Epiphany Syrah Hampton Vineyard is vibrant and lifted on the palate, with integrated acidity, a lively texture, and a clean, focused finish. Delicious now, this should easily continue to shine for 4-6 years." ~ The Rhone Report

"More straight forward, the 2008 Epiphany Syrah Paradise Road Vineyard shows notes of red fruits, toasted spice, ground pepper, and mineral that lead to a medium-bodied, ripe, and supple wine that shows moderate concentration, and an overall balanced, yet slightly boring profile. Drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years." ~ The Rhone Report

"This Syrah is an earthy, meaty effort with dense, charcoal-infused blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with hints of espresso, tar, and jus de viande. Pure, complex, and full throttle, this is a Syrah to drink over the next 7-10 years." ~ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

“Boasting rich, full notes of blackberry and darker styled fruits, toasted spice, chocolate, licorice, and meaty nuances, this fleshes out in the glass with a medium to full-bodied, supple, polished texture, and solid length on the finish. Drink bottles over the coming 5-6 years or so.” ~ The Rhone Report

"The tight, dense purple-colored 2007 has shut down after bottling, but it appears set for a long life of 15-20 years. While closed, it reveals hints of flowers, blueberries, and black currants, and a boatload of tannin to shed." ~ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
