2007 Epiphany Purité – Santa Barbara County
Un-Oaked ~ Dry Riesling
Retail: $18.00 Wine Club $15.30
Tasting Notes:
Along with being one of the most historic varietals, Riesling is also known to be one of the most “noble” grapes due to its ageworthiness, elegance and shimmery clear nature.
Riesling is also one of the finest examples of how a wine’s balance is greatly influenced by the complementary roles of sugar and acid in the wine. Add it’s enhancing floral and fruit aromas and you come up with a wine that has the potential to age gracefully for years to come. With this impressive background, we figured the Riesling grape would be an ideal candidate for our Purité line.
So, we aged our Riesling grapes in 100% stainless steel for 5 months and came up with a wine that exudes the quality, elegance and balance that we were hoping for. With aromas of white nectarine, Lychee nut, wet stone, lemon zest and white flowers, this dry Riesling (not to be mistaken with its sweeter counterparts) could almost be enjoyed without ever taking a sip. But, then one would miss out on the refreshing acidity, minerality and flavors of citrus, guava and Asian pear that help round out the finish of this wine.
Enjoy this wine with white fish, pork, Thai or Chinese cuisine.
